Mbo Transporters Applaud Udom Emmanuel For Construction Of Ibaka Road, Appointment Of SSG
Transporters in Mbo Local Government area of Akwa Ibom State under the auspices of Ibaka-Mbo-Aba Transporters Ventures have applauded the state governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel for the timely completion of work at Enwang-Ibaka road as was promised last year during his visit to the area.
The transporters also commended the governor for appointing a season technocrat and professional, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem as the Secretary to Akwa Ibom State Government (SSG), the gesture they said will always endear the governor to them.
Speaking with journalists recently in Ibaka, the founder of the group, Ulap Jacob Nsoh said the governor’s gesture will always earn him the support of entire transporters in Mbo and Oro nation.
According to Ulap Nsoh, “The governor has proven to us that he is one man that can keep his promise, because when he visited the area last year, and promised to construct the road, many thought it was just a political talk, but today the governor has completed work on the road and it’s now motorable for transporters.
He thanked the governor for breaking the 20 years jinx in Oro by appointing Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem as a Secretary to Akwa Ibom State Government from Mbo Local Government and promised the resolved of all the transporters in the area to support the governor’s second term bid in 2019.”
The group also congratulated the council Chairman for Mbo, Hon. Asukwo Eyo on his victory during the December 2, 2017 local government election and his subsequent swearing in to office, saying the group doesn’t regret their action of standing with him during the campaigns and election proper.
He appealed to the governor and the state ministry of transport to help them repair their vehicles or acquire new ones, because the then deplorable state of the road had caused damages to their vehicles, which hinder their operations.
Also speaking, the Chairman and secretary of the group, Mr Ntekim Eyo and Elvis Asukwo Obong in their respective remarks pledged the unflinching support of the group to the second term ambition of the governor.
They pleaded with the state government to also assist rural women in the area with starter packs and funds to start up businesses in order to carter for their family needs.
The group however appealed to the governor to expedite action in the ongoing construction of Enwang-Etebi road to give it a timely completion, while hoping that work at Ibaka deep seaport will commence soon.
They also commended the Board of Trustees Chairman of Essu Nlap Oro and Member, Uyo Capital City Development Authority, Ulap Okon Asukwo Eweme aka Levile for the support for the union and for working assiduously to ensure peace in Oro.
