Urue Offong/Oruko Council Boss Lays Wreath At 2018 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration

The 2018 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration was held on Monday morning at Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Secretariat with the Executive Chairman of Urue Offong/Oruko Council, Hon. (Prince) Umana Efombruh on hand to inspect guards of honor and join in wreath laying, in honor of dead and living men of Nigerian Armed Forces.

At the commemorative event, the Chairman of Council was joined by his Deputy, Hon. Mrs. Jenny Onwineng, the entire Local Government Legislature led by her Leader, Hon. John Edet Okon, Member Representing Urue Offong/Oruko State Constituency, Hon. Asukwo Archibong, as well as the Secretary to the Executive Council, Hon. Victor Amba

Also in attendance were the traditional ruling class led by the Paramount Ruler of Urue Offong/Oruko Traditional Rulers Council, HRM Engr. E. R. Amasi, the Divisional Police Officer, SP Cletus Umoke, men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, men of Nigeria Immigration Service, The Nigeria Legion led by Maj. Bassey, as well as other paramilitary outfits, the religious class and staff of the Local Government Service led by the Head of Service, Amb. Raphael Otu.

The Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration is an annual event organized to honour members of the Nigerian Armed Forces who fought in the first and second World Wars, and those who served or are still serving in various peace support operations worldwide, as well as those who fought in the Nigerian civil war. The Day is to celebrate both the dead and the living heroes including all those who suffered various deprivations as a result of wars.
