A political bigwig and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Effiong Johnson, has alleged that he declined an offer by Governor Udom Emmanuel to replace the immediate past Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Rt. Hon. Victor Antai, in the state cabinet.
Chief Johnson, who is aspiring for the Mbo State Constituency seat in 2019 on the platform of the APC, made this known at his Eyoakan residence in Oron during the formal reception of Rt. Hon. Victor Antai by the Mbo Local Government chapter of the party.
"Remain steadfast in your support for the APC. Let me inform you that, last week, I met with Governor Udom Emmanuel, and he pleaded me to accept to be appointed as commissioner to replace my brother, Victor Antai; I rejected it. I cannot leave the APC. I told him that I am a core APC man, that I can't turn my back on my party. My interest is in representing you all in the House of Assembly in 2019", he stated.
Describing Rt. Hon. Victor Antai as an illustrious son of Mbo, Oro nation and Akwa Ibom State, Chief Johnson said other political parties especially the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have collapsed in Oro nation because of the entrance of the former commissioner into the APC.
He promised to offer effective representation to Mbo State Constituency, if elected
